Jameela Jamil was born on 25 February 1996 in Hampstead, London as a daughter of an Indian father and a Pakistani mother. As a sibling, she had a brother whose name is Adnandus Dyzantae.

From 2015, she was in a relationship with a musician James Blake, who is well known as an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer from London.

Jameela Jamil had a congenital hearing loss and Labyrinthitis, which is also known as vestibular neuritis from the date when she was born. After being born with this kind of health problem, she had to go through several operations, and now, she can only hear 70% from her left ear and only 50% from her right ear. After that, when she turned into nine, she was also diagnosed with the hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and at the age of 12, she was diagnosed with celiac disease. She had also said that, at the age of 21, she had mercury poisoning health issues.

Jameela Jamil also said that between the ages of 14 and 17, she was not allowed to eat a full meal because she had anorexia nervosa, so being a teenager, she had to go through lots of a hard time. She cannot eat what she likes and can’t eat a full meal at that time.

After that, she goes through an accident at the age of 17 where she was hit by a car while running from Bee attack where she broke her bones and her spine was also damaged. After that accident, she had to go through steroid treatment and physiotherapy, and she slowly started to recover. Jameela Jamil has started her media career by appearing on the E4 show Music Zone, which was in 2008, and later in 2009, she was seen presenting T4. After that, she became a co-host of the TV show Freshly Squeezed. Further, she presented an online fashion advice show “The closet,” on the Bebo website, a social networking site, and Twenty Twenty Television produced it in the year 2010. 

Later, she was seen writing articles for the company, a monthly magazine about fashion, celebrity, and lifestyle. After that, she became the host of the reality show “Playing it Straight” in 2012 January. Later, she debuts her first fashion collection after cooperating with Very in 2012 June, who was well known as British online retailer. After that, she was seen hosting the radio of “The Official Chart” and being the co-host of “The Official Chart Update” at the end of 2012. Jameela Jamil began her career in acting after she came to Los Angeles in 2016, but she moved there for a screenwriting work, and she has no idea that she would be an actress. Later, she knew that Michael Schur was looking for a British actress for his movie, which her agent told her, but she didn’t have any experience in the acting field.

Later, she decided to try it and she gave an interview, and she was again called for the next interview, and she got a role in his series. After that, she became the regular cast member of NBC series, as a Tahani Al-Jamil in “The Good Place,” which is a fantasy-comedy television series.
