Halsey Reveals Mac Millers Passing Encouraged Her To Leave A Toxic Relationship!

Halsey opened up about a toxic relationship she had in the past and which she was encouraged, by a tragedy, to finally leave! The singer revealed that, it was Mac Miller’s overdose that gave her the courage she needed to move on and here’s why!

While on the Armchair Expert podcast, Halsey chatted with host and actor Dax Shepard and she told him that for her, the tragic accidental overdose of fellow artist Mac Miller was a ‘turning point in her life.’

‘This is a terrible thing to say because I think it puts a positive connotation on a heinously tragic event, but it gave me the courage and the faith to leave the relationship I was in. It gave me that real f**king reality check that I needed and I think it probably did the same for a lot of other people too. I was lucky enough to be in a position where I was like, ‘Okay, cool I’m not ruining my life yet,’ but I never would’ve expected some of the people that I know and loved and lost—to see them go down that path so aggressively and so rapidly. I kind of recognized the spiral early and was like, ‘Alright, now I know,’ the artist explained.

Halsey went on to mention that, the unnamed partner she had that unhealthy relationship with at the time used drugs as well.

Obviously, with that being said, Mac Miller’s passing helped her realize a lot of things.

The talented singer shared that ‘As a result, my currency of expressing love with them became doing drugs with them. There was a lot of infidelity in the relationship too. It was like if I don’t do it with you, you’re going to go do it with someone else and then probably f**k them and I’m going to take you back anyway because this is what we do.’

Halsey told Shepard that it was difficult for her to deal with the nature of their romance since she was also dealing with bipolar disorder.

As a self proclaimed ‘control freak,’ realizing that she could not control herself, her partner and pretty much nothing else in life even made her question if anything even had a point, including life!
